Trip Overview

Pikey Peak trek is located in the Everest region of Nepal and provides the best sunrise and sunset view of Everest, Annapurna Langtang region mountain range through the deep green valley. Pikey Peak is the best and most amazing peak to view the attractive landscapes that include Mt. Everest in the Solukhumbu district of Nepal. Lots of trekkers call it the most favorable point to experience Everest. Even Sir Edmund Hillary stated it was his favorite destination to enjoy Everest. The name Pikey originated from a local Sherpa Clan deity that indicates the sky over nature.

Pikey Peak Trek is a recently launched trekking route in the Khumbu region that allows the trekkers to experience an up-close view of Everest and the lower Khumbu region together with magnificent views. The view of sunrise and sunset across the huge peak is so stunning that it will become a trekker’s lifetime memory. Besides from magnificent mountain range views, the trekkers will get a chance to explore different topography and the life it supports.

The diverse Sherpa culture and their hostility are very fascinating. Being a recently discovered trekking route, it provides an off-beat and singular trekking experience. The Peak Peak trail route is surrounded by lush forests of rhododendrons, oak, and pine. The trekking will walk by several villages perched on ridge tops covered by terraced fields. From Pikey Peak, the trekkers will get a grand view of the Himalayas – Dhaulagiri, Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga to the far west. The tea-house lodgment together with the trekking routes is easy and provides very basic provisions.

The Pikey Danda is most famous for its sunrise and sunset views and trekkers can experience the incredible sight of the peaks beyond the Kathmandu Valley to the plains together through the Himalayan range of Mt. Everest, Makalu, and Rowanling.

Pikey Peak Trek Physical Requirements

For those who are willing to do the Pikey Peak Trekking, even for a one-shot adventure, it’s not sufficient to just reveal through their equipment and guidebook. The trekkers must be physically and mentally fit to accomplish the altitude and the distance since there are not any fast exits from the side of a peak.

So if the trekkers are planning to trek this peak, it is advised to spend a proper amount of time and strength to prepare themself to encounter the difficulties that the peak puts them. Jogging, Running, Swimming and Leg exercise a few weeks before the trek would be a proper physical training to prepare them for this trekking. Trekkers also make Pikey Peak Trek maps handy and acknowledge reading the Peak Peak blog prior to beginning the tour.

Pikey Peak Trek Best Season

September – December in the time of autumn and February – June at the time of spring are the most favorable times of the year for Pikey Peak Trek. These seasons are known for pleasant weather and perfect landscapes. Autumn arrives joyfully in Nepal as the significant festival of Nepal falls in this season. Besides, spring is the season of happiness through various flowers flourishing all over the whole nation. Monsoon brings heavy rainfall in Nepal; inviting the risk of soil erosion and flooding.

Furthermore, the trail will be slippery and leeches will infringe them all over the forest route. But this season may be an excellent one for keen botanists since the whole trekking trail is full of lush flora. The intense freezing temperature during winter may not be excellent for every trekker. If the trekkers are willing to trek Pikey Peak during winter, it is advised they check the accessibility of tea houses at higher elevations. The tea house frequently remains closed, since people migrate to lower altitudes to avoid cold and snow.

Lodgments

The trekkers will be lodged in 3-star hotels in Kathmandu. At the time of the trek, they will be staying at a guest house/local tea house. The trekkers might not find contentment and better quality teahouses – it should be noted that at higher altitudes the quality of lodgment might not be as favorable, through more basic rooms through the bare necessities.

Foods at the Time of Trek

In Kathmandu, the trekker’s hotel includes a morning meal, but all foods (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be offered at the time of the trek. A staple meal of the Khumbu region is potatoes, oats, buckwheat, Sherpa stew, and Tibetan bread.

Sherpas began farming potatoes during the period the first seeds were introduced to the region during the early 90s. There is limited food at higher altitudes except for a lot of potato dishes. Potatoes are high in carbohydrates – a perfect source of energy required at high elevations.
